The Mega Manga Con 2003 in Berlin

layannYoo folks.. sorry for any grammar or spelling mistakes. I'm tired and this isn't beta read >.<
i survived the MMC2003.. yeah I'm still breathing... And let me tell you: It was great. Great is not a good word to describe it but well I'm tired and my brain isn't working well at this our. Yeeeeeah... I'm still excited cause sooo much things happened and I'm sooo happy. Okay, where to start. Okay, we planed on doing a Gundam Wing Parody. And our practising hours were very funny. After some time we had a name and "Lemon Wings" was/were born. Well... okay, and Makiko dragged me to do cosplay. Well just cosplaying isn't a point to complain about but she wanted to participate at the competition on stage (ooow... i hate that word). Okay, I said yes. And it was all fine until a few days before the convention. I really was nervous about it but I had said yes and so I didn't want to cancel it. Okay, after some struggeling with myself I told her and after that it was a lot better. As I said I didn't want to cancel I just had to tell her about my fear. Okay, so we did it. Yeah.. and I think the audience liked it. I was soooo nervous and didn't get much sleep or ate enough. I think I got some grey hair or got my life shortened. But that was on saturday. Lets start with Friday. Because usually friday comes before saturday. Friday we cosplayed the 4th movie outfit from Taichi and Yamato. And our ad-shirt from the animagic (it has Viggo/Orli chibis on the front and "human scum" on the backside with our Urls). We practiced our lemon wings play again and then the Con began. It was nice, the location was not too far away, we nearly know all people there... not all.. but there was a real big amount of people coming from Berlin and that people are also at the comic-store meetings every weeks. And so it was like a big family. The introduction show was nice with a group called "Nansensu". They're doing anime Music and parody stuff and I really like them. They also have their fans already. Hope they'll do maaaaany shows on cons in the future. I have to mention that I was eager to see Sui and her Krad costume. I really really wanted to see it. Cosplay was great I think I haven't seen this much different costumes on a con. At the Ani there were many Final Fantasy characters and chobits. Okay, maybe because it was a much bigger convention than the MMC.. there even were the two girls from You're under arrest and a Ryoma from Prince of Tennis. And the best of all: Just one FF character and i think one or two chobits charas. Not that I don't like it but if you see 10 of them it's boring. If they are alone theres a much better effect.
Mhm...Hika did an El Hazard Chara.. the blue haired one. I don't know her name. But her costume was great. Tino did a great Zorro, i really like him, he's crazy. He really it but I like it. On Saturday he did Wizardmon from Digimon and his sis Rika from DigimonTamers.
Linchen was nun Helen from Gundam Wing Endless Waltz. Everyone thought she was a real nun. Finally Sui arrived and let me tell you her Krad looked very very good. I wish I could do something like that.
There was a band called Konoko13 and they did kind of life AMVs. Playing music to video collages. And the first one was Gundam Wing. Makiko and Linchen loved the band from the start. ^.^ Besides they really looked great. Nice looking men playing music to anime music videos. There was a trade room and of course we bought something. They had cute little Prince of tennis keychains and a Hikaru no go doujinshi. Makiko showed it to me and I kind of grabbed it (very fast) from her hands an examined it. I asked the trader if I could open it. He looked very strange as if I would destroy it or something like that. Then I jsut said "Hey, I think I'm going to byu it anyway but I want to look at it. Please." hehe he nodded and looking at the first two pages I squealed "Okay, I'll buy it." The doujinshi was really georgeous. I love it. That was my little trading room expirience. Oh and they had the Yami no Matsuei DVD box. But it was english and I will not pay 90Euros for the english version.
*scream* just at this moment I saw a tv-ad with scenes from the Return of the king.. I'm so happy!!!!
Okay, that wasn't about the con...that was hapening while writing.
Tasuki (our Duo from Lemon Wings) and some of the other Berlin fans wanted to cosplay Angel Sanctuary to recreate the big group picture drawn by Kaori Yukisensei. And they really got a huge group of as cosplayers. They even got a little Metatron sama and Leila. I liked their idea a lot. Tasuki was Duo and I drew the tatoo on her right cheek. It was fun to do it.
Someone from TNS (Tsuki no Senshi - another Musical group) did a CCS cosplay with a Yue, Ruby moon, Kerochan and the little cat like thing (i forgot the name, too). Yue and Rubymoon were cosplayed by others, too. Uhm, even a Kagura was there with a little kyo backpack... and a Marik, whom Makiko ran after on saturday to get a picture. I though it was a phantom marik, who didn't exist...
Terra, a staff member cosplayed Duo...which was a nice fact so our heero had two duos on saturday.
Okay, friday we left early to go to bed, cause our cosplay rehearsal was at 8 in the morning. We got four hours sleep that day and I was soo excited I didn't want to eat anything at all. My body jsut did funny things. Okay, it was my nervousness. I'm absolutely not a person to go on stage. And I jsut though we were going to do the worst thing ever. Okay, it just scared me more that no other group was reahearsaling. Okay... we did it and it wasn't that good and not that bad. I just couldn't say if it was good or not and if we would do it right. The lemon wings rehearsal was an hour later and that one went a bit better. So all in all not so good views on our stage debuts. ^.^ Linchen did a cosplay at the animagic 2003 but all the others didn't do anything before. Makiko does musical but does it count?
Well... I was sporting the badest nausea I ever had. Okay, but the show went on and the con also. I/we tried to enjoy as good as I could and I nearly forgot about and got a bit more relaxed. At around twelve all cosplayers should gather and then we went behind the stage. Terra showed us what to do and where to go and so on. Well they had a jury out of some tailors and other "normal" persons. I really didn't know. There were 2 hosts and they introduced the cosplayers very very good. One of them cosplayed Sui from Zeus (he was sooooo fantastic *drools*). Okay, did I mention that I was really nervous? I just wanted to run away, to flee but I didn't. We talked to the other groups and singles. The Inu Yasha group was very nice and they lent us the inu ears for the next day. The Yua cosplayers also participated and Sui with another Krad. The two rayearth girls also did a good job and then Tino with his siter as Wizardmon and Rika. I love him ^.^ he soo genki and his costume is unique. After the group cosplay began the single cosplay and we were number two. I think my hands were ice blocks right then. And then our introduction came and the Sui-Host digivolved for us from Schlusemon (the other host) to Suimon. we had to go to the jury, answer some questions. They wanted to know what exactly we have done to our costumes and so on. But I said that we are doing it just for fun, not to get a price. Other costumes were so much better and hard work. One of them asked me if I'm always this thin. -.-' After that we got our microphone and went on stage. And I think at that moment I just shut my brain of. And IT WORKED!!! WE REALLY MADE IT! AND WE DID A GOOD JOB! The audience laughed and well, they liked our show kiss too. (we were telling about Tai and Matt being just eleven and finding fanstuff in the internet ^.~) after our little show we brought back the micros and then back to let some of the audience make fotos. And they wanted to see us kissing again... (///) okay, and we did and they liked it again XP
We really got great feedback the whole convention. I was soooo happy! I can't even describe it. We then waited backstage and got a good idea. we wanted to enter wizardmons and rikas foto shoot on stage and they agreed. Okay, so we waited for their appearance and talked to the others again. Wizardmons and Rikas show was very very funny and what we didn't know was that their "accessoiries" was a garurumon, a TnS member with plushiears and a little tail. So they came to let the audience shoot fotos and right then I glomped the Garurumon and he dragged me of the stage. Really funny. taichi said sth like "Wizardmon you're alive... Kari will be very glad to see you." But well It was funny... ^.^
We went back to the others to cool down and relax a bit. hehe... as I said the feedback was better than expected. Okay, our lemon wings changed costumes after that. Tai became a Heero, Michael a Duo, Helen a Quatre and Wufei was Wufei already. I was the subtitle with just a shirt.
Ohh and Taichi was glomped by a Belial and nearly killed by Zorro aka Wizardmon. There was another one who glomped her on friday but I didn't remember. Gomen.
Okay, right after Nansensu came Lemon Wings. And we were all excited. I wasn't excited as I was that mornign but well my fingers were cold. I have to mention that the audience was in a great mood they had their fund with nansensu and now they wanted to see us. A very interesting though. Well. Linchen started and okay, they weren't that attentiv. But after a sentence they were quiet and listened. And well... they liked it too. Wow, what a feeling, can't describe it. We got it all on camera and I can't wait to make the vid out of it. The feedback was alswo great... I think I know why people are doing musicals or shows or something like that.
Oh and there was a Go-Workshop and one time I saw a Watari playing go. Lina took the picture for me and I went to the watari. "Hey Watari?" "Mhm... not again." (she was emberassed about us taking a pic) "Are you wearing that costume tomorrow?" "Yes. Why?" "Oh.. great. You'll see." And we left. ^.^
I got a Tsuzuki Pencilboard, some TCs, some keychains, brithday and christmas presents for linchen. But I wanted to tell more about saturday. Linchen had to go and I drove her home after that makiko and me went back to play DDR. But all we did was writing into Con books and talking with Daijoubu members. Daijoubu did a Weiss Kreuz musical which was extremly silly. I loved it. Quotes: AYA: "Aahh.. ja." (means "oh..yes." Sounds like AYAs name) Retort: "EGOIST!!" I don't know if it's as funny as in german but I had to tell you. They ate instant ramen with fineliners and it looked very weird. We met the watari again and told her we wanted to do yami cosplay on sunday. We talked alot and drew some pics, met new people, nice people and well.. it was great. after midnight we left.
Then another weird thing happened: my cars boot didn't lock. And so we first called makikos dad but he also had no idea. And then I called the mobile service. And the told me that they could only send me someone on sunday. Okay, so my car stood in Berlin with an unlocked boot. At that time it was around 2 in the morning. And we had to get up at 6. No sleep that night too. ^.^''
Okay, up at six and off into Yami costumes and then driving my car which was still standing, to a garage. The nice (not really but I have to thank him) fixed it and after that we nearly made it in time for the con. Makiko was Tsuzuki and I did Hisoka. We even got a pseudo Byakko and Fudas. we went into it and then nearly glomped the (yeah again) go playing watari. JUST SEE THE PIX! nyaha.. Sunday was a nice day. Much more relaxing and our cosplay was good. We made a lot of pix and even inuTsuchan ones. The ears were from Inuyasha XP
Did I mention that the Nagi from daijoubu wanted to marry me? Yeah... I can't believe it. Hehe.. fame. I smell fame. No. I'm normal. I't s just very weird. We have some fans. Cool. Kakkoi desune. Sui did Ceras from Hellsing that day and Linchen Hotori in his emperial robe. It's such a beautiful costume and she worked so long on it. Wow. Sunday had another highlight: ChibiChibiXXX, an anime parody music band. Or sth like that. They play known songs with altered (and very very funny) text and well we just laughed our asses off. They are the best. It all started with an appearance of them in Sailor Chibimoon costumes (just keep in mind that they are all men) as a cosplay group and now they are a highlight on every convention. ^.^ I can't describe their programm, you have to see it.
